Champions League Final 2017, Juventus vs Real Madrid: what time is kick-off, how can I watch it and what are the odds?

What is it?

It's the 2017 Champions League final, the 62nd European Cup final or 25th since it was renamed the Champions League.

Who's playing?

It's a repeat of the 1998 final between Spain's Real Madrid and Italy's Juventus. Tasty.

When is it?

It's on Saturday June 3 - ie tonight.

What time is kick-off?

It's a 19.45 BST start.

What TV channel is it on?

BT Sport have the rights to broadcast Champions League football in the UK and, therefore, will be the destination to show the final. It's available on their Freeview channel BT Sport Showcase and on YouTube too - you can find out more about live stream details here.
We'll also bring you live coverage of the final here.

Where is it being held this season?

At the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.

What hope do I have of securing tickets?

Not a lot, unfortunately. Fans are being advised not to purchase tickets outside the ground after a batch was stolen from a south Wales hotel earlier in the week.

What happened last season?

You can read Sam Wallace's report here.
It was, all told, not a great final when it came to the quality of two sides, by turns tired or just out of inspiration. Ronaldo was a passenger for much of it and the only game-changing performance came from Simeone’s half-time substitute Yannick Carrasco who scored the equaliser, bamboozled Real’s defence at times and kissed his girlfriend when he scored.

What is the team news?

Zinedine Zidane has refused to offer any clues as to whether Gareth Bale will start a Champions League final in his home city.
Bale has declared himself fit for Real Madrid's showdown with Juventus at the National Stadium of Wales on Saturday after a calf problem.
The Wales forward has not played since coming off in the first half of El Clasico on April 23, and he admitted he may have rushed his return following an operation in November.
Spanish international Isco shone in Bale's absence as Real secured their first LaLiga title since 2012, and manager Zidane remained coy on his selection headache at his final pre-match press conference in Cardiff.

"I'm not going to tell you who's going to play tomorrow," Zidane said.
"Isco and Bale are two players who can also play together; in the long run, anything can happen.
"When I look at my squad, what's good is that they're all ready and willing to play."
Juventus have a full compliment to choose from, with midfielder Sami Khedira returning from injury to play in the last game of the Serie A season.

What are they saying?

Sergio Ramos on Real Madrid's hunger:
"Tomorrow we have a date with history, with ourselves and we have to all forget about the things we have won and think about it like our first trophy," Ramos told a news conference on Friday.
"In that sense we're motivated and excited about being the first team to win two Champions Leagues in a row."

Juve keeper Gianluigi Buffon on the roof:
"I've already played in such conditions in Amsterdam against Ajax and at the World Cup in 2002 and there's no real difference. If it preserves the pitch and the show, that's fine," the 39-year-old said.
"I think it's quite normal, I don't mind. Perhaps the reason is a bit unclear, whether it's for rain or security reasons."
For a city that gets more than its fair share of precipitation, the weather is expected to be fine and dry for Saturday's evening kickoff in a stadium that often covers up for rugby internationals when the weather is inclement, providing Wales's opponents agree.

What are the odds to win the trophy?

  • Real Madrid - 5/6
  • Juventus - 11/10

What is our prediction?

Max Allegri's Juventus are a perfectly balanced outfit, but it is hard to bet against that extra bit of individual class running through Real Madrid's squad. Their last two Champions League finals have gone the distance: an extra-time win in 2014 and on penalties last season. Given the obdurate and experienced rearguard they will face, Zindane's side will have to be patient once again but we're backing them to pull through in extra-time.
